Description

Learn with us the art of ratafia making. Immerse yourself in the world of ratafia and create your recipe with local herbs that you pick yourself. A full experience including a botanic walk, fine drinks, lunch and some of our favourite ratafias to taste!

 

Already joined our workshop last year? If you did and you bring your ratafia bowl this time, you get a discount for being so nice. Check the types of tickets to select the right one.

This workshop is aimed not only for Ratafia lovers but for everyone who want to know more about how to use herbs and plants that grow around you to make home-made beverages. Something unique that you can share around the table with family and friends.

If one thing is essential about RATAFIA is that it must reflect the character of its maker and where it comes from. 

DAY PROGRAM

•⁠ ⁠We will gather at Artkom at 10 am (Kleine Mechelsebaan 50, Aarschot). Parking will be available.

•⁠ ⁠From there we will walk in a forest nearby to learn about botanical picking or wildplukken with our botanical expert. She will introduce us to some of the local herbs, plants, and flowers that grow around us and their health properties.
* It will come in handy to bring comfortable shoes and a basket (or a tote bag) for the collection, and bear in mind that the Belgian weather always brings a chance for rain ;)

•⁠ ⁠Back in Artkom, we will provide an aperitif and some appetizers, and for lunch this year we will have a communal paella by the well-known paella cook Ivo Hermans.

•⁠ ⁠After lunch, it’s time to get down to business! The Ratafia master Joan Pujades will guide you through the process and the right use of the ingredients.

•⁠ ⁠During the workshop, we will be able to taste and discuss some of the most popular ratafias in Catalonia, some more traditional, others more experimental to inspire you for your creation.

•⁠ ⁠We will make sure you have everything you need: a ratafia bowl to mix the ingredients, tools to clean and cut the herbs, drinks, food, and all of this in the creative and comfy environment that Artkom’s space always offers.

•⁠ ⁠At the end of the workshop around 4 pm you will take your ratafia home where the resting period of Sol i Serena begins. We will provide all the instructions to follow the last steps of the process easily.
